DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP IF YOU ARE A WOMAN! THEY WILL TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE! I called Honest-1 after I had gone to a different auto shop down the road to have my brakes looked at and they quoted me $1500 just to replace my brakes and my lug nuts. I gave Honest -1 a call asking for a quote and Tom tells me on the phone that he "couldn't believe they quoted me that!" and to bring it down to the shop ASAP to have his mechanics look at it. He then promises me that no matter what the first auto shop quoted me, they would quote me 10% less. Tom made sure to say all the right things I wanted to hear on that phone call, telling me he has daughters and that they really want my business so they would take care of me, and was bad mouthing the other shop on the phone as well. At that point I was very upset with the first shop, so I did not see this as a red flag. Tom mentions how they have a online site where I will be able to see photos of everything they find wrong with my car and I will be updated throughout the day with what they find. I felt good when I dropped my car off with Tom, and genuinely believed they were a good, trustable business just trying to help. The first Auto shop said my rear and front brakes needed to be replaced, and my lug nuts and sway bar links needed to be replaced as well. Tom says he will check and see if those are true, and asks me to bring the paperwork from the other shop to him as well for a reference. I drop my car off around noon and leave. I should add that the first shop had my car for 2 hours and then called me with the quote and diagnostics. Brad at Honest-1 then keeps my car for the entire day and does not call me until 5:30pm to tell me that my rear and front brakes need to be replaced ASAP, my outer tie rods need to be changed and the whole car will need a realignment. He then quoted me $1800 "But with your 10% discount its $1750!". Brad talked over me the entire conversation, I had to interrupt at multiple points just to be able to ask questions, told me that no other shop would do it cheaper, and when I asked what the minimum possible number would be to just change my rear brakes and tie rods w/ a realignment, he says that $1750 is the lowest he could go "in good conscious". I told him I would not approve another until I spoke to other shops and my father as well. He then sounds very annoyed as he informs me that I will not be able to find another shop that will do it for any cheaper and that I needed to hurry on my repairs because they couldn't keep my car forever without working on it. I tried to be polite when I hung up. I fully believe that Honest-1 kept my car all day and did not call me until 5:30, when most other shops in the area are closed, because he thought that I would not be able to get in touch with another shop and would not want to be without a car for any longer. Thankfully I was able to get in touch with another auto shop, Bayside Auto repair in Port Orange. The difference was immediately recognizable. I left my car with Honest-1 overnight and called when I was about 3 minutes away from the shop that I was coming to pick my car up. They were very short with me. The one good thing I will mention is they did not charge me for running diagnostics on my car as the first shop did. After taking my car to Bayside auto repair, I was quoted $850 for both my front and rear brakes to be replaced. I asked my new mechanic if he noticed anything with my sway bar links or my outer tie rods and he says that while those are things that will potentially need to be replaced in the coming years, they are not something I need to worry about immediately. All in all, I believe that Honest-1 tried to take advantage of me and my situation because I am a young female dropping off my car by myself. My car is old, things are going to be wrong with it and are going to have some wear on them and I know that. I also know when I am being gaslit and manipulated into spending more money.
